Sapphyre Miria, L Ac., Dipl. O.M. graduated with a BS in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech in 2005 and began working in healthcare. She quickly arrived at the conclusion that Western medicine is great for acute injuries and illnesses but not as helpful in curing chronic disease or maintaining healthy homeostasis. This observation left her feeling disillusioned with her career choice, so she shifted gears into organic vegetable seed farming. It was during her ten years as a farmer that she discovered her love of medicinal plants and began studying herbalism in all its forms. Eventually, this love of plants inspired her to return to healthcare but from a more holistic approach. She moved to the Bay Area from the East Coast in 2018 to learn acupuncture and Chinese herbology at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland, CA. She graduated with her DAOM in August of 2024 which she completed while starting and managing Contra Costa Acupuncture in San Pablo, CA. She has now returned to the East Coast and has established her practice, SoulFire Health & Help, in the Charlottesville, VA area.
