I am a graduate of the Finger Lakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Northeast College of Health Sciences (formerly New York Chiropractic College). I completed over 4,000 hours of clinical training that included a clinical internship in Zhejiang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital (Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China). I am a NCCAOM National Board Certified Acupuncturist, specializing in (but not limited to) sports medicine, pain management and Tui Na (Chinese medical massage). In addition to my formal studies, I have completed several certifications in Advance Needling and Anatomical Acupuncture.

I was born in Mexico City. I started my studies in Taijiquan, Qigong and Gongfu in 1986. Since then I have participated in dozens of seminars and workshops in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, Canada, USA and China. I am a certified instructor of the Five Sections Taijiquan Program. In Puerto Rico, I taught medical qigong in the Hospital Español Auxilio Mutuo for 12 years. I used to Rock Climb in a semiprofessional bases. I am married and have two wonderful boys, and I am also an enthusiast photographer.

I started to learn/use Saam acupuncture in 2024.

Kate August was born and raised in the Bay Area and finds inspiration by our diverse communities and landscape. She is a graduate of ACCHS in Oakland, where she received a Masters in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. During her last year in graduate school she met Toby Daly and was quickly inspired by the Sa’am Four Needle technique. She comes to the field with ten years experience as an educator and clinical western herbalist and is staff faculty at the California School of Herbal Studies. As an herbal medicine practitioner and acupuncturist, she believes in the body’s innate ability to heal when provided the correct support and environment. The ebb and flow of the seasons is a guiding force for our well being & our emotional and physical bodies are deeply connected. With a particular interest in pain management and elderly support, Kate is honored to treat people during all stages of life. She believes that all people have the right to live comfortably in their minds & bodies. When not in the clinic you can find her playing in nature, preferably by the water’s edge.

Jennifer (she/her) is a Licensed Acupuncturist living and working in the Highland Park neighborhood of East Los Angeles. Jennifer studied at both the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) in New York City and Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, CA where she graduated summa cum laude. She has been studying Herbal Dermatology with Mazin Al-Khafaji since 2014, and is a member of the International Registry of Chinese Medicine Dermatology & Inflammatory Disease. In 2021 she fell in love with the Sa’am Korean 4-needle technique acupuncture style, which she continues to learn from Toby Daly. Jennifer’s clinical interests include dermatology work, pain management, psycho-emotional issues, digestive disorders and internal medicine.

Angelique is a registered nurse with over 20 years of clinical experience. Graduating with a BSN from UMass, Amherst in 2003, Angelique spent the majority of her nursing career working in the specialties of oncology and hospice, with hospice holding a particularly special place in her heart. Most recently, she has worked in mental health and feels especially drawn to helping those who are struggling with their mental and emotional well being. A 2024 graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture, she was honored with “The Compassionate Healer” award for “high level clinical skill in addition to creating a safe, sure and trusting environment for patients”. She was also chosen for the “Earth Element” award for embodying the qualities of being “nurturing, centered, stable, hardworking, an advocate and creative”. Blending her nursing skills with Chinese medicine, she is working to bridge the gap between the Eastern and Western medical paradigms. She is currently completing her doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts.

Jason has been practicing acupuncture and herbal medicine since 2003.

My interest in traditional East Asian medicine grew out of a background in ecology and conservation biology, as well as a long-standing curiosity about health and wellness that led me to my first acupuncture experience in my early 20s. I am continually inspired by the philosophies of traditional medicines, which are grounded in our connection to the natural world and the importance of living in harmony with our environment.
I completed my four-year degree at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, OR in 2013 and became a national board-certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine later that year. During and after school, I studied the Shen-Hammer system of Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis, primarily under Gwen Lovetere and Brian LaForgia, which has become an important foundation for my clinical practice. My post-graduate acupuncture studies have focused on myofascial release acupuncture and Sa’am acupuncture. I also completed Dr. Heiner Fruehauf’s Master Herbal Certificate Program, which has allowed me to deepen my understanding of a school of herbalism I have practiced for the last 10+ years.
I am passionate about a simple, balanced approach to diet and nutrition as an essential element of good health, and as a lifelong cook and food-enthusiast, I am always excited to talk about how to create a delicious and nutrient-dense meal! As a student of yoga and meditation for over 20 years, I often draw on yogic philosophies and practices when offering home exercises and incorporate mindfulness techniques into my work with patients whenever possible. I believe that cultivation of inner listening is fundamental to health and wellness, and love to support each individual in learning to trust his or her own intuition and innate healing capacity.

Aaron received acupuncture for the first time as a teenager and was instantly taken by it’s multidimensional effect on the mind and body. Numerous acupuncture and herbal medical treatments later, Aaron was drawn to Asia and lived in India and several East Asian countries for more than 5 years.

While living in Seoul in 2006, teaching English to allopathic medical students, Aaron began a deeper investigation into the broader, comprehensive system of East Asian medicine (EAM). He began to understand that EAM is a complete health care system that is sometimes broken into parts and diluted here in the west.

After numerous discussions with his medical students on the benefits and cultural understanding of the EAM system, Aaron decided EAM would be an ideal vocational choice.

Kiki is a licensed Acupuncturist practicing in Colchester, Vermont since 2003. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at San Francisco State University in 1996. In 2003, she earned a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from the Pacific School of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. From 2012-2022, Kiki attended Sharon Weizenbaum’s Graduate Mentorship Program and was introduced to Sa’am Acupuncture during this time. In 2020, Kiki began studying Sa’am with Toby Daly, PhD., LAc. and has seen a remarkable shift in her patients’ healing ever since.

My exposure to Asian medicine and healing began with the study of Tai Ji Quan in Boston’s Chinatown in the 1980s. When finally ready to work with people full time I began an engaging three years of study at The New England School of Acupuncture, graduating in 2001. Since 2002 I have had a private practice in the Cleveland, OH area specializing in fertility, but also treating many other conditions. In addition to my private practice, I have, in the past, also worked five years at The Cleveland Clinic Center for Integrative Medicine and three years at University Hospitals’ Center for Women’s Health. My curiosity has led me to devoted study with an acupuncturist who specialized in Korean Hand Therapy, and also with Jeffrey Yuen, and more recently to study this Sa’am system with its emphasis on constitutional treatment.

A few years after starting my practice in in 2000, I was ignited by the community acupuncture model. Years of holding space in community clinics have given me an infinite awe for our bodies’ innate ability to heal, particularly when assisted by a few well-placed needles and a safe environment. To access this self-regulation, we need to begin to inhabit our bodies. As someone who re-learns that lesson frequently, I bring my own mindfulness practice to clinic. I often see my most important job as helping patients to befriend and trust their bodies, whatever their health concerns.

In 2021 I fell in love with Saam acupuncture, which continues to teach me about the dance of simplicity and intricacy. Patients love Saam treatments too! I’ve also been drawn back to the deep study of classical Chinese herbalism via Sharon Weizenbaum’s Graduate Mentorship Program. Both disciplines are endlessly challenging and enriching.
