UTI: Bladder/Heart

I’ve had 2 UTI patients come in today. One woman early 40’s, just back from 5 day trip to Qatar, next day went
skiing, lots of sex and monday morning = UTI. Not surprising. Pressure and feeling need to pee. No sensation of
burning yet. Freq urine = BL xs but do I want to tonify HT in a situation that is likely to get hot? I ended up
tonifying BL and giving herbs. She Felt better.
2nd case, 65 yr old man. Stage 4 kidney disease and severe BPH. Has freq UTI. Urine becomes thick milky with
burning sensation. He has the tongue that looks like the great salt lake, an SI indication. So I thought with the mix
of symptoms, that might be good. Added LI on the rt for the obvious dampness, even though he is skinny and dry
skin.
How are you all thinking about UTI?

I have used quite a variety of channels for uti kinds of symptoms.
St+ in multiple cases where pelvic pressure was very strong and the morphology fit.
Sp+ worked instantly after antibiotics failed in a dry tight woman.
I toggled SI+, UB+, Liv+, Sp+ for a very K excess, controlling, dry inside/outside, super tightly wound woman
with very frequent utis.

Freq urine = BL xs
It can be but it can also be other things. Maybe freq urine from cold= consider UB excess is a better way to think
about it.

My understanding of Toby’s teaching is that this fissured tongue is an indication for Taiyang cold water: Ub+ or
SI+.
Let us know it goes with your second case. I don’t know if I would have used LI+ in the presence of thick urine
and a dry/dry morphology even though it might be called for in severe BPH.24/01/2024, 11:46UTI: Bladder/Heart – Sa’am Clinical Questions – Qiological Community

Yes to what Kristin says as always. With any burning sensation you may want to consider BL+ supplementation.
(Toby has spoken those words either in clinic or a seminar). I find it to be helpful clinically and have seen it work
for UTI. But still you need to consider the entire picture as Kristin stated, any channel tonification may treat
anything.
From what little we know of your second case it sure sounds like BL+ should be considered and a good place to
start.

Hi Amy, I think it is important to know that all UTI are not necessarily heat. They are very often due to cold and
cold damp as well. If there is no concentrated urine or hot urine or burning, it is not heat. If it is cloudy it is damp.
This can still be very painful. It could even need Ht+.

Thanks Friends for all the input. Some how I had it that the fissured tongue was SI, thanks for that correction. And
I appreciate the reminder about UTI’s sometimes being cold. I think my guy is a damp heat combo. He is much
better- slept well last night, up only a few times compared to every 1/2 hour to pee. Was able to nap as well (which
he hadn’t been because of feeling too wired to sleep night or day). Able to work today. I will see him again
tomorrow
