I am slightly embarrassed to say that recently I really lost my patience and got quite pissed off with a service
person I had to interact with. I was wearing a mask at the time and immediately with the rise in my anger, I felt a
cold sore arise on my lip. I very rarely get cold sores.
By the time I got home, the blisters had spread a little. I considered treating PC+ b/c of the volatile anger and the
convex nature of the blisters, but I was too tired to give myself a treatment, so I decided to try a homeopathic
remedy, nat. mur., which really matched the type of cold sore. It didn’t do much to reduce the blisters.
The next night, blisters were basically the same, but emotions much calmer, only sl. irritability compared to my
normal, which is pretty calm. I decided to treat PC+ anyway because the blister had appeared with that intense
anger. By next morning the blisters were quite reduced.
I wondered if others have had positive results in ameliorating the main symptom by treating the emotion that was
present at the onset of the main symptom, even if that emotion is no longer presenting strongly? Would Toby
recommend considering this?

With cases, Toby is always interested in proximate cause. For this reason, I have taken on the practice of really
trying to find out what happened around the onset of symptoms including dominant emotions.
Since emotions are just movements of qi and blood with a story line, they can point to the directional quality that
leads to a patient becoming symptomatic.

Absolutely. The emotional component is IMO as important as say the physical component of someone slipping on
ice and breaking a wrist. The underlying emotional trauma plays out in the physical – (and IMO trauma/emotions
are the root of all dis-ease). Sharon goes into this some in GMP with what she calls the elemental physical. The
emotional component plays a huge role in how I treat and clinic is fun when patients have that self-awareness.

Thank you, both.
@George_Mandler
I also always consider emotions, but usually just the presenting emotions and not necessarily the triggering
emotion if it is no longer manifesting for the patient. So this is new for me.

Very helpful to know to look at the proximate cause in all it’s facets, including emotions, even if it’s no longer
present.

I have a current 85yo patient with neuropathy that we’ve made good progress on but I am stuck. (I’ll be writing a
case up for help if she doesn’t improve with today’s session). But it started when her daughter suddenly died 20
years ago. Although she may no longer display those emotional symptoms I still think the heart shock is key here
and embedded at an unconscious level. So yes even though it may not display any longer I do believe the inflection
point (as Ed Neal calls it) is so important as to what were the emotions and other conditions (hot/cold/dry/damp
etc) at the time a pathology manifested.10/01/2024, 13:27Treating the emotion accompanying onset of main symptom – Qiological Community

HI,
I have a very dry on the inside and outside client whose symptoms are improving with LU+ and not Sp+. Her
symptoms began when her husband lost his job and she was very concerned about their financial state. This and
low energy level is the only reason I even tried LU+ after Sp + did not help. It seems that in this case extreme
financial worry is stronger than the actual body morphology.
