If a patient is a highly effeminate male, would a gender-based Sa’Am needling still most appropriately be on the
Left or might it be on the Right? What if they are trans?

T addressed this at some point. My notes say “consider girliness/manliness and gender fluidity with side choice.”

I go with how a person presents his/her self. A highly effeminate male who identifies as male… I’m treating him as
a male.
A male who identifies as female, I’d treat “her” as female.
It’s a bit tricky in this gender fluid with various levels of male/female that is often based in a kind of ideology. It’s a
bit like the what’s “inside” and what’s “outside.”
I’m sure I could easily tread on some political toes here, but for me it comes down to interplays of yin and yang. A
set of binary principles that give rise to exquisite nuance.
