Many of our patients who have been through medical treatment for breast cancer are on a 5 year regimen of
estrogen suppressing Tamoxifen. The most debilitating side effect of this drug is an EXTREME level of interior
dryness . . . eye dryness, vaginal dryness, oral dryness, intestinal dryness . . . just dry dry dry dry. It’s terrible. I
wonder if the interior moistening impact of the Spleen and Lung Supplementing treatments in the Sa’Am system
would have the power to rectify such an extreme symptom or whether (dare I ask as a newbie??), Draining
Stomach or Large Intestine might also be required and whether that would be able to restore interior moisture.
Anyone here have any experience applying Sa’Am to patients on Tamoxifen?

Yes experience and yes definitely Sa’am can help. I have a breast cancer patient on Tamoxifen who is doesn’t
sound as dry as your patient but after sessions she can have more moisture in her mouth and improved bowels. It
sounds like SP+ would be a good start for your patient if her skin is dry. (ask if they put lotion on to moisten)
I have a 70 yo male on Lupron for prostate cancer (and other meds) and he complained his mouth is always dry and
there is no moisture in his mouth. He is a overweight and a strong body type so I supplemented ST on him. About 2
minutes after the needles were in he said “Holy cow I can spit! Can the acupuncture do that?”. This is a good
example of the non-defined exterior/interior line as perhaps on a skinny person LU may have brought moisture to
the mouth.
No problems stays solved in a complex dynamic system.

I also have a recent patient taking tamoxifen after her breast cancer. She is definitely dry on the inside. However,
Only mildly dry on the outside. She clearly fit the body type as well as personality traits of LI. She is 62 years
old,Her skin was smooth and well taken care of.
Cc. Poor sleep, anxiety, noc. Sweating
This patient may be very different from yours but maybe some comparison and contrast thing may give you more
insight. ( or not)
Even though she fit LI so well, she also screamed of SJ in her affect.
After more questioning I clearly knew I was going to treat LV, over SP. it really just seemed louder to use Toby‘s
words .

after asking many questions, her cracked skin in the K 3-6 area was cracked in contrast to her very well cared for
skin. I had also discovered that she had no libido and that had been for A very long time. When she was still
cycling, it was light in volume and she had started it later in life. It felt like a little bit of a leap but it seems like the
only thing that made clinical sense.
I texted her today 8/15/19 and she reported that sleep was better, anxiety was greatly reduced, and the night sweats
also remained at bay.
I like to preface this by noting that my first visit with any patient is a consultation/ diagnosis/prescription. ( pulse/
ear diagnosis)
In this particular case, the consultation was only one day before her first treatment and therefore her herbal
medicine prescription
Had only been taken the night before and the morning of her first treatment.

I do not have any patients like this at moment. But they do drift in and out of my practice.
I concur with your thinking on this. And one of the great things about this system is we can test these ideas and get
some pretty quick feedback, as @George_Mandler pointed out.

Since supplementing UB, Spleen, SI, Kidney, Lung or Stomach all provide moisture in some
Location or degree, discrimination of the whole picture is necessary. Liver is only very slightly moistening, btw,
but might be appropriate in a heat above SJ excess presentation where the heat above is clearly causing the dryness.

Don’t do it.

Helpful reminder @KristinWisgirda, I tend to think of the liver as moistening as it tonifies blood. But taiyin
fluids are WAY moister than LV blood. And the ST really draws the moisture to the surface
