This is all theoretical, based on a scenario where there are no other medical interventions available for the
immediate future except you and your needles. How would you treat a venomous bite from a snake or an insect?
How would you treat a traumatic injury? What other systems might you think of using?
A traumatic injury would probably benefit from SI+, unless there was a break in the bone, in which case KI+?
What if there was excessive bleeding? Probably not SI+? For a venomous bite I might consider UB+, since it’s Tai
Yang which is the most exterior and also for the cold since the poison is probably of a hot quality. I’d also think
about using Sun Si Miao’s ghost points, with bleeding and/or moxa.
Thoughts?

Hey @adambroder great questions
Wish we had Toby’s teacher around to answer these. I’ll bet he had experience.
This is completely theoretical
I like your idea of UB to slow the physiological response to a venomous bite. Likewise, for trauma with bleeding,
perhaps +UB to slow physiology process… like ice.
For shock perhaps PC to open the chest and bring some calm.
broken bones, yes +KD, but only after they’ve been set
I’m not really familiar with the ghost points other than studying them in school for a test.
Do you see much trauma in your practice?

In my limited experience of traumatic injury- mostly ankle sprains- SI+ works great. But you can keep in mind
sometimes channel/sometimes quality.
One patient with pain post recent shoulder replacement, SI+ made it worse. There was another case on the forum
where SI+ created adverse reactions post surgery too.25/01/2024, 11:53Sa’am for emergency situations – Sa’am Clinical Questions – Qiological Community

In a discussion of head injuries and stroke, T said that he has never seen SI+ cause more bleeding. Moving blood
can get extra platelets to the area to stop bleeding and moving out the swelling could be critically important.
In my own experience, UB+ provided awesome relief and dramatically healed a 2nd degree verging on 3rd degree
burn.

I work at a practice that focuses on musculoskeletal pain, but we rarely see traumatic injuries, mostly chronic
and/or of unknown origin.

I live in northern New Mexico where many including myself take part in outdoor activities that aren’t without their
risks, and so with a system as powerful as Sa’am I’m inclined to have needles on me whenever possible since you
never know what you’re going to come across
