I have a question about the location of Pc 3 and Lu 5 in Saam. Should we be using the traditional TCM locations
for these?
I’ve done Japanese acupuncture so long that I have lost track of where, for instance, Pc 3 is in TCM. For example,
In my Japanese studies I’ve been told to use a very lateral location for Lu 5, very near LI 11. Deadman says Pc 3 is
just to the ulnar side of the biceps brachii tendon. and Lung 5 is on the radial side of the tendon. Is that where you
want us, Toby?

Is your curiosity about Lung5 revealing that you might be itching to drain the Lung? Reminds me that I used to
use Lung5 for all kinds of fluid metabolism problems.
I don’t have any note about Sa’am locations of these points and am not sure that I ever saw T needle P3.
I’m interested in all the nuances too.

I usually palpate for these because of all the blood vessels and tendons in the area. Those points can move around.

Thinking back to previous allergy seasons, Lung 5 was such a staple because it worked so well …by draining the
Lung.
The Sa’am perspective has given me deeper insight into the functions of individual points and why treatments of
the past worked or didn’t.
