Macular degeneration case update

Here is an update about the patient I wrote in the case study format post: Case Study Format
Recently, she just got new glasses and was having some distorted vision so consulted her macular specialist.
She wrote: “I was surprised to learn my drusen had actually improved even more! My vision is worse with
distortion she thinks because I’m not used to seeing with flattened drusen! She said the 3 injections I had are not
responsible or the improvement (only for preventing any new blood vessel leaks). I asked if she thought it could be
from acupuncture & Chinese herbs; she said “maybe”! She also said it’s very unusual for large drusen to flatten &
improve at this point so I give full credit to you!”
Drusen are the lipids that get deposited under the retina, possibly an accumulation of waste products from the rods
and cones that the body is unable to process. My patient had HUGE amounts of drusen and an unusual mix of wet
and dry macular. The macular specialist previously stopped the injections she was receiving because her eye was
improving so much and the drusen was so decreased.
Thank you Toby and the Saam tradition holders!
