I just got my shipment of some of these needles.
They come in packs of Ten
I have found that in a number of the packs, the needles have punctured the seal and are sticking out the bottom of
the pack.
Has anyone else found this to be the case?

Saam needles are out of stock at Acurea right now. Monika says that they are at the factory right and will become
available for order in 2 weeks.
The bigger size(s) requested, 40 x40, are on special order and will take longer to be available.
So far, these are the best quality big needles I have used, excepting some super special Korean needles I bought off
of Ed Neal’s assistant.
George_Mandler: November 8, 2019, 3:03am
I have been using EACU . .40 diameter (26 gauge) for a couple of months now. I love ’em as they have no tubes or
tabs and easy to open. You can order directly from EACU or through Golden Needle.
If you really want to get fat you can order sewing needles from EACU .60x35mm! Whoa!
KristinWisgirda: November 11, 2019, 7:22pm
Good to know that you like the EACU. I shied away from them after hearing another practitioner had issues with
them, including jagged tips, if I remember correctly.
I bought this brand in 50x60s off of Ed Neal’s assistant: http://www.hlmedical.com/products1e.html
He had to special order from Korea. They come 10 per pack and are super easy to insert for such a thick needle. If
people are interested, we might consider joining forces for sourcing our needles.
Taran: November 15, 2019, 3:26pm
Hello Friends! While I agree that EACU needles are nice in that they have no tubes/tabs. I have had a number of
issues with needle quality – burs, needles being bent beyond the point of utility, and in my experience, they don’t
wrap the fascia as well as some other needles have. That being said, I continue to use them, I just don’t love them.
Regrettably, none of those other needles are available currently nor were they available consistently. Hoping that
Acurea restocks soon!
And I am definitely interested in joining forces for Korean needles if other folks are!
KristinWisgirda: November 15, 2019, 3:40pm
I’ve just ordered some of the Haeng Lim Seo Wan Medical and Dong Bang needles from acumall.com, a Korean
site. The .40 diameters are a regular size so no special ordering was needed. If service is good, I’ll ask about
special ordering .50 diameters, which I think some of my stronger patients could benefit from.03/01/2024, 11:33For Fans of Big Needles – Sa’am Clinical Questions – Qiological Community

Lately I discovered that a longer needle (60mm) makes needling UB40 much easier, especially on bigger bodies
where it is more of a reach when they are supine.

Haeng Lim Seo Wan Medical and Dong Bang
How do you like these?
…
KristinWisgirda: November 22, 2019, 12:37am
They are being shipped from Korea so I haven’t used the 40×40 yet.
I have a small stash of 50×50 Haeng Lim Seo Wan. I use these on robust patients or those with robust pathology
and really like them.
amyjenner: November 22, 2019, 12:39am
are you using 40mm long needles on the jing wells?
KristinWisgirda: November 22, 2019, 1:03am
I like 15mm on the wells, since longer needles are more likely to be irritated if the patient moves the hand/foot.
Currently I am using 30×15. I can’t remember if ordered 40×15 from the Korean company.
amyjenner: November 22, 2019, 12:41pm
I agree, the shorter ones are more stable. thanks for the tip on the needle company. I will order some this weekend
and give them a try.03/01/2024, 11:33For Fans of Big Needles – Sa’am Clinical Questions – Qiological Community

I am using .30X30 needles. I am considering going up to .40X40 but my patients are already not so comfortable
with the .30 needles. I am wondering if it is worth it. Are the differences in results that significant when increasing
the width of the needle? Also – when using the 40 length does that mean you push the needle in deeper? ANd does
that also bring significantly bette results?
I am asking because I see slow miracles in my clinic but not fast ones and I am wondering if part of issue is that I
am not using big enough needles. I would love to understand more about this.
THank-you
KristinWisgirda: November 27, 2019, 9:36am
Adina_Kletzel:
I am asking because I see slow miracles in my clinic but not fast ones and I am wondering if part of issue is
that I am not using big enough needles.
This could definitely be a factor. Some patients are just going to be slow responders but you will never know the
difference if you continue to use smaller needles. I had one case in particular where using thicker needles clearly
made a difference on the table. Nothing was happening after needling UB+ for a patient with dry mouth. I took out
a jing well point and needled it with a thicker needle. She immediately felt saliva come into her mouth!
30mm needles are definitely too short for points like Liv8, K10, Ub40, Gb41/42, LI11, especially on bigger people.
For UB40 and K10, I sometimes have been using longer needles 50/60mm. Needling Kidney 10 on obese people,
the longer needle gets qi more clearly. Needling UB40 supine is just easier with a long needle.
4 factors determine treatment outcome: We control correct diagnosis and correct treatment. Correct treatment
means sending the body a clear message with the needles. You need strong enough stimulation to do that. The other
2 factors- which we don’t control- are patient constitution and strength of pathogen.
With thicker needles, get samples to find ones that work for you. For instance, Huo Tuo 40x40s are hard to use for
me, while 40×40 Kingli go in so much more smoothly. I have some 50x40s from brands mentioned above -Dong
Bang and Haeng Lim Seo Wan Medical – that have a smoother insertion than the 40×40 Kingli.
The discomfort of insertion is brief. I use a combination of making light of it and acknowledging that it is very
temporary. Building confidence with using large needles on yourself will help the whole process too. I was hesitant
to use larger needles in the beginning too. My confidence and worry about patient sensitivity were the biggest
factors to get over. Even my more needle phobic folks do just fine now AND love the results.
Adina_Kletzel: November 27, 2019, 10:01am
THank-you for your explanation.
I will give it a try. WHere would I get the 40X40 kingli?
And – do you push the 40X40 all the way in until the end?03/01/2024, 11:33For Fans of Big Needles – Sa’am Clinical Questions – Qiological Community
And when you refer to Kid 10 being so deep – are you angling the needle down or up to with or against the channel
or are you pushing it inward into the knee?
Also – with jing well points you recommend 30X15? And is there a specific brand that you recommend for those?THank-you so much for taking the time to answer my many questions on the subject. I appreciate it.
KristinWisgirda: November 27, 2019, 10:44am
Adina_Kletzel:
WHere would I get the 40X40 kingli?
lhasaoms Unfortunately, they are out of stock. Acurea.com has “Saam needles” which are 35×40 and very good,
though some people have noticed packaging defects.
For jing wells, I use 30×13 (kingli, mac) or 25×13. The lengths might be 15mm.
Adina_Kletzel:
And when you refer to Kid 10 being so deep – are you angling the needle down or up to with or against the
channel or are you pushing it inward into the knee?
K10 direction is determined by the treatment- against the channel for H+ and P+ and with the channel for Liv+. On
skinny folks, the needle is flatter to the skin. On hefty folks with lots of padding, you have to needle more deeply
to find it.
Adina_Kletzel:
do you push the 40X40 all the way in until the end?
On the very off chance that the handle would break off when in the patient, I always leave a little shaft exposed.
Adina_Kletzel: December 2, 2019, 8:54pm
HI,
I spoke to a representative at Lhasa and he said that the 40X40 Kingli are being discontinued. Have you received
the Haeng LIm Seo Wan Medical 40X40 needles yet? I am thinking of ordering them but wanted to hear from you
first to know if they go in smoothly.

inserted very smoothly and were lovely to use.
Daniel: December 4, 2019, 11:40pm
I just ordered from AcuMall . . . Dong Bang 35×40 and 40×40 and HLSW 35 x 40 and 40 x 40. I will spend some
time in the New Year trying out all of them.
KristinWisgirda: December 5, 2019, 6:25pm
Just got my order from Acumall. Once they shipped, travel time was 10 days from Korea. I love my Dong Bang
and HLSW needles! The only downsides to them are the smaller handles. The plastic packaging- 10 needles +1
tube per package- will take some getting used to but the quality is worth learning how to finagle the packaging-
super easy insertions + good qi. Recommended.
I’m going to contact them to see if they can special order some thicker needles- 50mm.
amyjenner: December 12, 2019, 12:58am
I agree, I just got some and used them today. Loved them as far as easy, smooth insertion but will have to get used
to the shorter handles.

@pattycakes Thanks for pointing that out. I’m sorry I missed that. Individually packed long needles would be
perfect since you aren’t going to use them on every point.
Please let us know how you like them.
I would still like some thicker needles- .50mm- for the more robust patients and special occasions.
George_Mandler: January 2, 2020, 11:20pm
I ordered from the Acumall last month but the shipment got lost. (got money back via paypal).
Do these HLSW needles have those plastic tabs or is it just tubes?
KristinWisgirda: January 3, 2020, 12:41am
No vacuum resistant plastic tabs- thank goodness.
The HLSW and the DOng Bang needles come in plastic envelopes of 10 with a single tube. It isn’t always easy to
get the needles out of the packaging but it is much better than dealing with the singles.
Daniel: January 3, 2020, 4:44pm
Hmmmm – I ordered mine many weeks ago and my order has yet to arrive – its over Xmas so hopefully, its not lost,
just ‘seasonally slowed down’.
KristinWisgirda: January 3, 2020, 4:51pm
My order was delayed 2 weeks initially, so it took about 1 month to arrive.
Daniel: January 6, 2020, 4:18pm
Arrived Today!! how are you finding the Dong Bang and Haeng Lim Kristin? I have to say, I grew to really like the
MyAcu needles – and I see the supplier has them in stock again so I just reordered some of those (35×40). I will
take some time to compare all Three Brands.03/01/2024, 11:33For Fans of Big Needles – Sa’am Clinical Questions – Qiological Community
KristinWisgirda: January 6, 2020, 7:41pm
I prefer the packaging of the MyAcu needles.
The 35x40s in all 3 brands are comparable but the 40x40s in the Dong Bang and Haeng Lim really aren’t that
much more intense than the 35x40s so I use those mostly.
Daniel: January 6, 2020, 9:18pm
I agree on the packaging very much – it suits clinical flow much better. I also find (so far very early on) that the
MyAcu needles ‘slide in’ better. Looking at the three, it seems to me it might be a higher quality steel.
Daniel: January 10, 2020, 8:21pm
Well, I am totally loving the Dong Bang 35×40’s from AcuMall.
Been using them all week and just loving them.
George_Mandler: January 17, 2020, 12:31pm
I never received my AcuMall order from Dec 3 as apparently it got lost in the Korea post. I placed another order

sad.

through them. I’ll keep everyone posted.
Daniel: January 18, 2020, 12:37am
the Dong Bang 35×40 are just excellent
Taran: January 18, 2020, 12:39am
@Daniel It’s one of the sizes I asked Golden Needle about.
Daniel: January 18, 2020, 12:17pm
Great! by the way – the ones I got from AcuMall have coil handles that are very short (Ive never seen handles that
short here in North America – even with Dong Bang) – I have grown to really love these shorter handles – I don’t
know if they are Dong Bang only for the ‘Eastern market’ or not. But I really love them in the Sa’Am context. I
love that the box photographed above has 1000 needles in one box (in packs of ten which I really like for just
carrying in clinic). Think about that – one box covers 250 patients with Sa’Am treatments. That’s so awesome. (so
different from the Seirins for Kiiko style I’ve been doing for two decades – the VOLUME of needle boxes!!!
KristinWisgirda: January 20, 2020, 2:17pm
Thanks George for sharing the bad news. Wishing “Jimmy” the best possible outcome for him.
Thanks so much Taran for contacting Golden Needle. I’m sure you must have mentioned that Dr Neal’s student
will be interested too. Maybe Peter Galle can ask too. I’m going to reach out to Golden Needle as well. It probably
would be helpful for every interested individual to do so as well, so Golden Needle knows that there is enough
interest.
Daniel: January 20, 2020, 4:39pm
i just discovered that on eBay, you can find suppliers of these boxes of Dong Bang DB108 needles – each box
containing 1000 needles in packets of ten needles each – the exact same I got from Acu Mall . . . . and the suppliers
on eBay offer them in all sizes from 0.20 to 0.40 and in various lengths. I love that just one box is 1000 needles –
that is 250 Sa’Am treatments from just one box. And I love the short pipe handle – it seems to go particularly well
with my technique. Anyway – check out eBay.03/01/2024, 11:33For Fans of Big Needles – Sa’am Clinical Questions – Qiological Community

Thanks @Daniel. Some sellers on Ebay have 50mm and 60mm in the thicker sizes too. Realistically, Ebay may be
the way to go. I know that Toby and other approached Lhasa and other distributors with no interest. Big needle fans
might just be in the minority.
Adina_Kletzel: January 20, 2020, 9:32pm
I just got my HLSW needles from Korea that I ordered 6 weeks ago. It is my first set of 40X40 needles. I had been
using 30X30. I feel like it is a big difference. They feel so much thicker.
I am having a hard time with the thicker needles. I see with my clients and feel for myself that they are
significantly more painful than .25X30. I find myself wishing all the time that Saam wouldnt require use of such
thick needles. I find it hard to cause pain even though I know that it will relieve pain.
I need to get over this and am looking for some advice and guidance.
You all seem so excited about the big needles and I was hoping you can share with me how you look at it.
Thanks!
Daniel: January 21, 2020, 1:42am
I found the 40 x 40 were ‘too much’ for me in the same way! But I have found the 35×40 to be just perfect for me
at this time – still quite thick and yet, if I am right on the point, they go in quite well. (sure, some points still hurt!
how can jingwells not hurt?? but I find I can just ‘do it quickly’ with the 35×40) Also I ordered boxes of both the
Dong Bang and the HLSW and I am using both but I do find the Dong Bang seem to have a slightly smoother steel
or perhaps better tips – but they do go in a bit better. You can get a box of 1000 Dong Bang DB 108 35×40 on ebay
for very reasonable price.03/01/2024, 11:33For Fans of Big Needles – Sa’am Clinical Questions – Qiological Community

I still get a visceral reaction when patients wince with needles sensation, so I understand the impulse to make
treatment as comfortable as possible.
At the same time, the patient reaction is partially determined by practitioner comfort and confidence.
Maybe work with the .35s before you use the .40s. Maybe save the .40s for your robust, less sensitive patients and
build your comfort and confidence from there. Definitely practice on yourself from time to time with the .40s.
Needle discomfort becomes less and less of an issue the longer I practice with the big needles. Now some of my
really sensitive patients wince every time and then laugh-“why do I come back?”- oh yeah, because the results are
worth it and it is only 4 needles.
Daniel: January 21, 2020, 6:53pm
yeah, I’ve had a few patients who found it painful, BUT after seeing the dramatic power and effectiveness of the
treatment, quite quickly accepted the discomfort of insertion to be a ‘small price to pay’!
Adina_Kletzel #46January 21, 2020, 9:41pm
Do you actually see a big difference in results between the .40s and the .35s?
I guess if I knew it was really worth the extra pain then I could find more comfort and confidence.
I would like to really know honestly if the difference in results between .30s. ,35s, and ,40s are significant.
Thanks!

I do use the .35 for the points closer to the finger and toes tips- SI2/3, UB66, SJ2/3 and for new patients who are
really nervous. If a new patient is stronger or more stalwart, I go right for the .40s.

I think Kristin likes them
KristinWisgirda: January 31, 2020, 2:01pm
If pressed to say, the Dong Bang are a bit smoother than the Haeng Lim but both are good enough for me. The
Saam needles from acuarea are really great too and clearly have the best packaging. The Haeng Lim have 2 set of
notches on the plastic packages that make accessing the needles easier than the Dong Bang.
Ryan_Gallagher: January 31, 2020, 2:40pm
Hi Daniel,
I’ve had this issue several times with the Haeng Lim needles (.35mm). Randomly, a needle will be too blunt to
insert. Otherwise, they’ve been great, but that’s kind of a big issue! I’ve ordered a batch of Dong Bang for my next
round of needles.
Daniel: January 31, 2020, 2:56pm
yes, the Dong Bang pack only has one set of notches for tearing it open while the Haeng Lim have two sets (see
photos). Kristin! You must be more San Jiao than I am – I never noticed the second set of notches on the HL pack!!

Thanks,Taran, for getting the ball rolling.

Awesome! Thanks, Kristin!
Hope you’re well.

Dong Bang needles have become my favorite. Are they really .40 diameter? They feel thinner going in than my
EACU needles, but.I assume that is just the sharpness/precision of the needle?
In fact my wife who hates needles was one of my first Dong Bang recipients and she said “Are you using thinner
needles?”. Wow. I find less patient cringe factor (and my own) with the Dong Bang .40 vs EACU .40.
Two weeks ago I ordered enough boxes off eBay to last me at least a year. (just in case Covid19 stalled shipment)
So I will not need any from Golden Needle anytime soon, but I will send an email to Barry.
Thank you to Kristin, Daniel, Taran for being so on point about Dong Bang

I just ordered a bunch of boxes of Dong Bang, my favorite too, just in case as well. Thanks to Amy Jenner for
being the first to point out the possibilities of availability issues.

Hi folks,
I have a surplus of thick needles that I’d like to sell: 3 opened boxes of 28-gauge Haeng Lim.
1 box of .5 cun (.35×15), containing 70 unopened 10-packs
1 box of 1 cun (.35×30), containing 46 unopened 10-packs
1 box of 1.5 cun (.35×40), containing 82 unopened 10-packs
I paid $27/box + shipping from Korea, so let’s say $33 for the lot, plus shipping. Lemme know if you’re interested
by emailing me at
Thanks!

On the same overall topic, two and a half months ago, I ordered 6 boxes of Dong Bang 0.35×40 from a Korean
source on ebay. After 5 weeks of watching on Korea Post tracking that they had never left Korea, I contacted the
supplier and he refunded me. I ordered another two boxes from another supplier and paid extra to have him UPS
them to me. Today!!! The original six boxes showed up!!
KristinWisgirda: May 19, 2020, 6:04pm
The eBay order for DongBangs from Korea placed in March 6th arrived today!
Can’t wait to use them.
Daniel: May 19, 2020, 6:33pm
Great – I will be interested to hear what you think of them.
Did you get the 0.35’s or thicker?
Good for everyone to know here that it seems ebay orders from Korea can take a full two months!!
KristinWisgirda: May 19, 2020, 8:35pm
So glad we can still have access to these needles even if it takes patience.
I got .40s including a box of .40×50 mainly for UB40. I’m hoping the longer needle will be easier to work with,
especially when the point is hidden under a broad knee. The 50mm can be used with plenty of other points too.

Another great thing about all of this . . . . Doing Kiiko style for 20 years, using Seirin needles – and often 10-15
needles per treatment (front, back) . . . with this, its 4 needles for a typical treatment – these Dong Bang boxes have
1000 needles in a box!! I just bought 8 boxes . . .that could almost last me an entire year!
Daniel: May 27, 2020, 7:01pm
Kristin . . . . any experience yet with the Dong Bang .40×50’s??
Its funny how we get used to things.
I had a couple of boxes of the Acurea I just used up and I got to really like them again – even more than the Dong
Bangs – now I am back with the Dong Bangs and I miss the Acurea!
I don’t think we can get Acurea anymore, can we?
KristinWisgirda: May 27, 2020, 8:04pm
Golden Needle definitely carries the MyAcu needle. Looks like acureausa does as well.
The Dong Bang 40×50 is overall slightly shorter than the MyAcu 35×40 because the later has such a long handle.
I do like the thicker gauge for UB40. The needle is less flexible so it is easier to feel where it is going as you thread
it behind the knee. So many of my H excess folks are quite robust and really benefit from the stronger stimulation
too.03/01/2024, 11:33For Fans of Big Needles – Sa’am Clinical Questions – Qiological Community

hmmm, I just checked both acureausa and golden needle and cannot find .35 or .40 in stock at either place

@Adina_Kletzel do you still have these?
Adina_Kletzel #84April 26, 2021, 8:33am
I just saw this now…
Yes I do
If you still want them they are available
Jason: April 7, 2023, 8:58pm
Is there a current source for the dongbang .40 x 30’s? All the ebay sellers seem to not ship to the US anymore.
KristinWisgirda #86April 8, 2023, 9:51pm
I ordered them from ebay.uk last year. No problem with shipping to the US. It takes at least 2 months, often longer,
to receive them.

Bummer! Looks like they’ve been barred too.

I ordered via EBay 4000 needles about 3 weeks ago . They wouldn’t ship to California so I had them send to
Oregon. They’ve arrived.
