Supplementing LU can help with energy. What is their body type? In general for someone older boosting up the
KD could be helpful, so long as there are consolations or serious amounts of blood stagnation. Maybe “toggle” it
with other channels

I am not talking about just ‘low energy’ – I am referring to a deeper fatigue – they don’t just need a kick or a boost,
they need deep battery recharge (if its possible with acupuncture). Would that kind of ‘juice’, in the Sa’Am context
(of course, with all other signs and symptoms considsered), be most likely to be in the realm of a Kidney
supplementation?

I’m with Michael wanting to know more about other possible diagnoses. Last weekend Maeve commented to me
that patients can report improved energy after so many different treatments. This is true.
The depth of fatigue isn’t as useful as knowing the quality of the fatigue- heavy, deflated, feeling like you can’t
hold it together, stuck etc. You can keep SI excess as a possible diagnosis but it is better to keep your mind open to
other possibilities.

Well, then I go to fu zi and herbs that support and warm the kidney. In Saam… I think KD and HT
supplementation. Shaoyin axis that brings the fire of life together.

Here are the details of the case that I have . . .
78 year old man
He is a mason – ‘bricklayer’
Ever since chemo for lymphatic cancer in 2010, has suffered from severe fatigue
some years ago, had a diagnosis of no testosterone
had half his thyroid removed 20 years ago – goiter
Main complaint – severe fatigue
even the in the morning, no ‘get up and go’
gets cold easily
has a malar flush
‘weather changes kill me’
low back pain
acid reflux
breath heavy with exertion
two hearing aids since 2013
foggy brain – can’t think of words
poor balance
urinary urgency and frequency
impotence
Lu 10 is very deflated
suffered a severe financial hit years ago from which he has never recovered
knee pain
shoulder pain
looks like Kirk Douglas’ twin brother!!
First Treatment – I did Lung +
Came back a week later reporting that two days after that treatment, “I felt like I used to feel – young and energetic’
But the returned to his deep fatigue
Second treatment – Lung + again
came back reporting no response at all and ongoing deep fatigue and feeling hot this week

Symmetry would suggest Kidney excess not deficiency. For symmetry we put a little tick in the supplement Small
Intestine category.
