When you get it right, it truly is amazing

Had a woman three weeks ago, who came in with a C/C of diminished vision due to glaucoma. Her right eye is
pretty much blind and left has 20% vision left. Everything looks muddy and dark.
She was also subjected early in life to horrific trauma.
When she came in she was really rude and mean.
She was also extremely disheveled and smelled like a cross between lackluster hygiene and crazy cat lady.
Treated sanjiao.
Her demeanor softened on the table and she left saying she would be in touch if she wanted to come back
Well she’s here now!. She is a completely different person! She is better dressed, she is clean and quite personable.
So while I didn’t write this up properly, the liver excess was screaming out and also delivering quite a few blows.
Treating SJ again today and also look forward to working this out more deeply – like maybe some Kidney to
support self care.
I’ll keep you posted
Lots of gratitude to Toby and this community! Without this system, I can see it where on multiple levels it would
have been an epic fail.

Wow! This is a great LR excess case of which I have not seen many examples. Clinic can be easy when patients fit
nicely in archetypal checkboxes.
I’ll bet you can help her vision given how nicely she responded to the initial treatment.

Thanks
Quite an interesting exercise in seeing how many ways someone can shield themselves from others.

Sounds like an aggressive edge to her rudeness indicating GB excess.
The power of this system to help such people transform so quickly is really poignant. Liver excess folks can easily
become outcasts because of their cluelessness. Knowing what the problem is helps me approach people with more
compassion. Actually being able to help them out of the grim darkness is such a beautiful thing.

The interesting thing was when I saw her yesterday, I had GB in my back pocket, thinking the same thing and
bracing myself. However, she was exemplifying calm PC librarian behavior. She was telling me about research she
was doing into other treatments for her eyes and making the connection between early childhood trauma and
glaucoma. Totally different
On reflection, the first visit was just rude and abrupt and clumsy. Her level of pathology really knocked me off my
game. I think the perceived “meaness” was my own reactivity and hurt around trying to help and being rebuffed
and flustered. I tend toward san jiao excess, so the experience of her first visit was a bit of a sensory overload for
me.
This is why we must always continue to do our own work!

I totally relate to that. Working with Saam, I take Liver excess behavior personally much less often. It is good to
differentiate aggressive from simple cluelessness.

Me too. And sometimes my own “reactivity” helps me get a clue. I have one patient who is “nice” … well…
seemingly nice. But I find myself often leaning back from her, as I can not get a word in edgewise, and I feel like
of beaten up with her demands. I tend to see that as a kind GB excess, and at times have done +PC with good
results.
Indeed we can not NOT bring all us into the relationship, and it is helpful to know when we are triggered and when
are using our own reactions in a helpful diagnostic way.
