This is the 42yo female whose case I presented last weekend, with instability at R T1 (sharp pain, not currently
active) and T4 (pulling pain, ongoing). I saw her on 10/1 and did L SI+.
She reported the deepest settling of any session so far. The next day she emailed:
Hi Fang,
I hope you are enjoying your weekend! I wanted to let you know that I have had really great results from the
treatment this past Friday. I feel better than I have for a long time. Thank you so much for your care!
Thanks everyone for the input on her case.

Thanks for the update Fang. Wonderful to know your patient is doing better.

Great news! Thank you for the update Fang. Can you remind me what happened when you did Right SI+ –
something wasn t right and you removed the needles.
cassiopeia: October 4, 2021, 5:58pm
I had never done SI+ by itself on her.
Once I did L UB+, she settled well; I added in R SI+ and she felt worse, so SI+ was removed. After that was when
I did K+, which felt great and very stabilizing. Which made me unsure about trying SI+ again until getting more
input from y all.

Thanks Fang, such a good reminder of the strength of one sided treatments.

more updates:
I ve done LI+, then SI+ again, then UB+: all fantastic responses.
She is now able to run regularly – not only does it not cause pain, but even feels good for the spine. T4 is still a
weak area that goes out regularly, but much milder: more of a pull than a pain.
last week she said this is the closest to herself that she s felt since before the car accident.
This is a woman who has gotten a LOT of therapies since the car accident: osteopathy, kinesiology, massage
therapy, chiropractic; nutritionist, other kinds of acupuncture, and even an iridologist sometimes! Saam
acupuncture is CLEARLY the factor that has helped her get back to her former self.
thanks again everyone for contributing ideas!

Great news, thanks for the update. It is so reassuring to know that people have this capacity to heal.

Hi Fang,
I d love to see the case presented from the beginning and follow the thread of Sa amsters input. Where would I
find original case?
Thank you,

@lbdanzig , just saw your post. here is the case as written up for the advanced class Sept 2021. I m still working
on this patient – she had a big setback in Nov 2021 after some bad PT work, now slowly stabilizing again. the most
useful channel for her is UB+. I ve paired it w SI+, KD+, LI+, and UB+/UB+: all have helped but pain not gone.29/01/2024, 11:34Unstable spine case from Point Deconstruction weekend – Sa’am Clinical Insights – Qiological Community

42yo Caucasian Female
Chief complaint : Neck pain s/p car accident 2017, when rear-ended at a red light. 2 types of pain:
1. R T1 sharp pain runs up to R UB10, wakes her from sleep, very disruptive, can t concentrate on anything
else when it occurs. T1 unstable, goes out easily eg in her sleep; must have chiropractic adjustment 1-
3x/week to realign.
2. R T3-4 pulling pain up to R GB20. Constant, annoying, but not as severe as T1. T4 also goes out easily, gets
chiro adjustments.
Manages pain with Herbal patches, hemp oil, chiropractic and osteopathy.
Pain comes on when T1 or T3-4 goes out from normal daily use: during sleep; when looking down at L hand;
throwing a ball. Very frustrated that she used to be an athletic person not afraid to use her body, and now can t
engage in normal activities. Worse after verbally assaulted by ex-husband in front of her kids (ages 8, 11). Previous
acupuncture did not help.
Second complaint: L ribcage also pops and goes out has a feeling that it protrudes forward. This is a
discomfort more than a pain.
Appearance and demeanor : Symmetrical 8+, Grooming 8+. Malar flush or whole face rosy 6+, bright eyes 9+,
warm loving affect 6+, polite 9+, clear purposeful speech, careful slow movements 9+ that are contrived and has to
be so to keep spine stable.
Lifestyle: successful family therapist, loves work and helping others. 2 daughters ages 8 and 11. Loves being a
parent 10+. Recent acrimonious divorce and continued custody battles feels fear for safety of children 8-10+. Is
able to stand up for herself and fight for the kids in court: When under crisis, my spine is stable ; if given the
choice between fight or flight, I fight.
Resources mixed: finances+, friends/family+, lack of partner support
Body morphology and flesh quality: thin, athletic build that now is not well-muscled b/c can t use body heavily.
Light tissues 6+. Medial heel full/not dry 3+. Warm, soft midline 6+. Average thenars; caved in chest 2+.
Skin Quality: average-to-slightly moist
Body Temp: Initially cold hands/feet, some hot flashes, night sweats 7+; now neutral
GI: tends to constipation 2+; otherwise healthy/unremarkable.
Respiratory: n/a
Sleep: baseline good, but can be poor d/t stress or woken by pain.
Emotions: well-adjusted, high emotional clarity.
Urination: n/a
Other Body: GYN menarchy 14yo, regular cycles 5d flow/28; dark red blood many pea-sized clots, never
dysmenorrhea 10+. Easy fertility, 2 kids.29/01/2024, 11:34Unstable spine case from Point Deconstruction weekend – Sa’am Clinical Insights – Qiological Community

Often fatigue when not sleeping well, or if under stress.
Tongue: Pink, sl swollen, mod cracks Lu/UW, thin wtc
Pulse: moderate, sl slippery
The Grossest Thing in the Room: warm eyes, clear speech, protected movements of upper body, neck pain
Main treatment ideas:
UB+ warm soft midline; to stabilize spine
SI+ symmetry and grooming 8+; for pain and trauma
K+ never dysmenorrhea; to consolidate and stabilize spine
LV+ polite, bright eyes; to make tissues more dense, provide emotional shielding
LU+ T3-4 pain, fatigue; to lift
Treatments given so far and response:
L UB+ 5/28/21, 6/24
L P+ 6/10/21; 8/5 (removed after 8min)
L LV+ 6/16/21; R 8/5
L UB+/R SI+ 6/24/21 (removed SI+ b/c it made the pain worse, UB+ by self was great that day)
L K+ 7/9/21; 8/26, 9/17
L LU+ 7/16/21
L HT+ 7/23/21
L GB+ 8/19/21
She is quickly responsive: always has pain when laying down on table, and with the right treatment, the pain
improves 70-100% within minutes. Good judge about if she s settling well or not.
8/5 P+ helped her chest tightness clear, but occipital tension worsened. My 2nd idea that day was LV+, so I
removed P+ and did LV+ occipital tension immediately cleared.
GB+ was neither good nor bad.
7/9, 8/26 treatments were both right before big trips, when she expected the travel to make the pain much worse.
But after the treatments the neck felt progressively more stable, less pain.
Now:
Her pain has steadily improved the most bothersome pain at T1-UB10 has largely gone away. Now the main
issue is T3-4 is still unstable, she feels it gradually going out over 12-24h, until it s a constant pulling tension29/01/2024, 11:34Unstable spine case from Point Deconstruction weekend – Sa’am Clinical Insights – Qiological Community

between T4/occipital ridge. She still needs chiropractic or osteopathic adjustments weekly.
Ideas from Saam advanced class 9/25/21:
UB+ with LU+? Or partial LU+?
K+/UB+
SI+ after 2kd txs?
K+/H+
HT+/LV+
LU+
LI+ check for fog, swelling at T3-4
