I have a patient who gets a runny nose within 5 minutes of eating – almost every time she eats and gets teary eyes
any time she is in the cold or a draft. (Interestingly she is coming for right sided thumb pain and right sided jaw
pain at Stomach 7!!! – indicating the Lung Stomach pair is in play . . . . . she has a little eczema on her elbows and
scalp but otherwise skin is unremarkable, she eats well, she has a good balance between activity and chilling . . .
she is self-employed, recently bought a cottage which she rents out all summer for extra income, and is single at 48
years old so while money is ‘fine’, she has no one but herself to generate income by herself so that is arguably a
‘stress point’.) I am looking for thoughts of how to place her runny-nose-on-eating and her teary-eyes within this
picture? Easily leaking fluids from the head. Thoughts?

Hi there,
I have had a lot of success when runny nose is from cold, which this sounds like. I have suppl heart with the runny
nose and teary eyes by itself or sometimes with stomach depending on diagnosis. Great results, stops within a
minute or two.
Obviously being cautious if the patient is hot and dry. Or that it is from damp damp and needs lg intestine.

So interesting to read about your experience Laura. I would have assumed these fluids were external and would
have probably tried lung first. Did you have other hints with these patients that this was more of an internal
dampness?

My experience is in line with Laura’s for chronic, recurrent cases. Sometimes Lung+ or LI+ instead of Stomach
needs to be considered.
