Laser seems to work to tonify

Hi Everyone,
If you were at the Seattle course, you met me. I’m one of the veterinarians, so I don’t routinely treat the naked 2
legged types. The exception is when one’s own husband is acting a little too much Mike Tyson and not enough
Librarian.
So, I treated him. However, since he’s needle phobic, and PC supplementation includes tonify LV-1 and PC-9, I
used a multiradiance laser on him on these 2 points, as though he were a cat. One lasers a cat to observational Ze
Qi/Da Qi in that when the cat says that the point tingles, you stop. I also used 0.15 mm seirins in the 2 sedation
points KID-10 and PC-3. His LV-1 and PC-9 were on fire and he could only tolerate literally seconds of laser on
these points.
Results: Much, much nicer husband. Thanks Toby. I know this is an n=1 but if you need to do a pediatric patient, or
simply a needle phobic one, this might be helpful.

Thanks @patricia.baley for this. (maybe I should buy my wife a laser so she can make her husband nicer too )
I’ve wondered about lasers. I know some acupuncturists use them. And I’ve even interviewed some folks that
actively use lasers in their practice. But I still feel like I just don’t know much about them… at least in terms of
being able to make a clinical decision about using one)
Can you share some basics with me?

Hi Michael,
I am absolutely not a laser expert. I will recommend Dr. Uwe Peterson for that. He is a veterinarian who has made
laser acupuncture his life. http://www.akupunkturtierarzt.de/Akupunkturtierarzt/English_Site.html
As I understand it, in a very rudimentary way, photons go into the tissue, stimulate the mitochondria in the cells
within the acupuncture point, and this is what sends the signal up through the pathway of stimulating an
acupuncture point.31/01/2024, 11:28Laser seems to work to tonify – Sa’am Clinical Insights – Qiological Community

From personal experience, like a needle, with a laser you can feel the point stimulated, often along the meridian.
There is probably a lot more happening, but I tend to use it as a tool and haven’t gone into it in more detail other
than attending Dr. Petersen’s lectures whenever I get a chance.

Baihui Point Laser Acupuncture Ameliorates Cognitive Impairment, Motor Deficit, and
Neuronal Loss Partly via Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Effects in an Animal Model
of Focal Ischemic Stroke.
J Jittiwat, Evidence-based complementary and alternative medicine : eCAM, 2019
Stroke is recognized as one of the most dangerous killer diseases in Thailand and other countries worldwide.
The development of a novel strategy for treating stroke patients is therefore urgently required. The present
study investigated the effect of laser acupuncture at the Baihui point on cognitive and functional recovery,
neuronal loss, antioxidant enzyme activities, and interleukin-6 (IL-6) activity in the hippocampus in an animal
model of focal ischemic stroke. Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: sham operation;
permanent occlusion of the right middle cerebral artery (Rt.MCAO); Rt.MCAO with sham laser acupuncture;
and Rt.MCAO with Baihui point laser acupuncture. Laser acupuncture at the Baihui point and sham
acupuncture at a nonacupoint were performed once daily (10 min at each point) for 14 days after Rt.MCAO.
Half of the rats in each group were examined to determine neuron density by Cresyl violet staining, while the
other half were examined by biochemical assays to measure glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in the
hippocampus, superoxide dismutase (SOD) in mitochondria and interleukin-6 (IL-6) activity in the
hippocampus. Laser acupuncture treatment was found to significantly enhance memory and neuron density in
CA1 and CA3. Improved neurological score, improved GSH-Px and SOD activities, and decreased density
ratio of IL-6 to ß-actin were also observed in the hippocampus. In conclusion, Baihui point laser acupuncture
alleviates cognitive impairment and motor deficits via antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in focal
ischemic rats. Further study is warranted to investigate other possible mechanisms of action.
