How are you managing social distancing and your clinical work?

I’m going to all video appointments. This is the letter I’m sending out:
??
Flourish Medicine

Cloverdale, CA 95425

Dear Patients,
I hope this finds you well.
In order to continue safely serving the community, your upcoming appointment will be conducted via video
conference. These video appointments allow you to discuss any health concerns and allow me to diagnose your
current state of health. With this diagnosis I can then prescribe an herbal formula, dietary recommendations,
exercises, lifestyle modifications, and/or qigong routines to maximize your health.
Because there will be no acupuncture, the fee for these appointments will be reduced from $90 per appointment to
$50 per appointment.
Erika will be reaching out about how to prepare for your video appointment.
I look forward to seeing you,
Toby Daly PhD, LAc

My practice is closed for at least 2 weeks, though I am expecting a longer hiatus. I am in the process of sending out
a similar letter to my wider patient population.

amyjenner: March 19, 2020, 11:19pm
I have closed my practice for 2 weeks and sent out a similar letter. I’m not really expecting to be able to pick it up
in 2 weeks but maybe have a better idea of what direction to take things. I have offered to do herbal consultation
etc as well. We will see. Some herbs are hard to get already. It is bringing up some interesting issues. I sent my kids15/01/2024, 16:27How are you managing social distancing and your clinical work? – Qiological Community

the weirdest care packages ever with herbs for prevention, early stage and sl more advanced stage and an N95
mask that I happened to have bought a box of about 2 years ago when I was burning a lot of moxa. With Saam, no
moxa, so I have the masks.
Since we have extra time on our hands, I’d like to share Emergence Magazine. It is online and a multimedia story

below is the text that I have sent to all my patients;
ABACUS Chinese medicine Will NOT be treating patients with acupuncture until further notice.
We are offering a preventative formula to anyone who has no symptoms at this point. No appointment is needed. If
anyone has symptoms, I will do a telephone consult to look to see where their condition has progressed according
to the research in Wuhan and Beijing. If anyone has symptoms of any kind they should be self quarantined (and get
tested when possible). Find someone symptom free to pick up your appropriate Chinese herbal medicine and
continue to stay home. In order to not overwhelm the healthcare system, continue to stay home and not go to the
hospital unless your symptoms are worsening and not stabilizing.
Be part of the cure not part of the problem.
Be safe.
Take care
I also have several articles from academics and docs in Beijing, trying to figure how to get them to you all. I am
treating several patients currently with symptoms. Most early stage, tai yang and shao yang. Only one has gone
more interior. I have used John Chen’s guidelines and other info from doctors in Being, and of course my teacher
of twelve years, Jimmy Chang. My clinic has been closed for a week. However, I have been working in my
pharmacy and doing phone consults, and safely delivering formulas
good luck everyone

Hi everyone, I’m not a traditionally trained acupuncturist, started as an amateur, I have been learning pretty
enthusiastically in the last few year. As I have took some courses (e.g. Channel palpation and Jin Gui) in China,
I’m on a few Chinese Medicine Doctor’s wechat groups. These groups has been very active ever since the start of
Wuhan lockdown. Some of them actually went Wuhan treat Covid cases, and wrote about their experience. Seeing
the infection number and death number climbing up outside China. I wonder if you like my idea of translating
these articles about using TCM combat Covid19 in China into English? Would it help at all? as I understand TCM
doctors are not allowed to treat infection cases here in Australia?

KristinWisgirda: March 30, 2020, 12:47pm
Hello @joymayi! Thanks for joining the conversation. Of course, we all would appreciate translations of articles
about using TCM to treat patients with the virus.
joymayi:
Would it help at all?
Absolutely it would help. The more we understand, the better we can help our patients and each other.
joymayi:
TCM doctors are not allowed to treat infection cases here in Australia?
I’m so sorry to hear that this might be the case. Here in the US, some of us have started treating confirmed or
suspected cases but I am not aware of any Chinese Medicine practitioners having privileges to treat hospitalized
cases.
Please feel free to share. Welcome to the forum.

Thank you Kristin! There are in total around 4900 TCM doctors in China went to the hospital and treated infected
cases. more than 90% of patience used herbal remedies besides western medicial treatment.
I’m not very sure about copyright issues, but i think i’m free to paste the links. So for this one,

Then i will briefly explain it. let’s see if it works this way. please ask questions if i have not explain it clearly. Or
please suggest a good way if anyone knows it.
Thank you!

Thanks @joymayi. An English translation of that article has been posted here:

Hi @joymayi,
I don’t recognize the tongues in either of those articles. Has anyone else seen translations of these articles? If so
saying so will save @joymayi the trouble of translating.

joymayi: April 1, 2020, 9:15pm
OMG Kristin, the trouble of translating! I apologise being a bit naive on it… it’s really hard!!
At the moment, I’m working on Dr Song’s articles. and looking for help on TCM terms.
Here is another one I don’t know if there is english version out there, but hopefully it can be helpful for some.

@joymayi I am eternally grateful for all of the translators out there who have enabled my lazy self to learn and
practice our medicine.
Any bit that you can do will be much appreciated! Articles on herbal medicine will likely be more helpful, since
most acupuncturists have closed their practices in the interest of social distancing.

joymayi: April 1, 2020, 10:22pm
@KristinWisgirda, thank you! trying my best, and looking for guidance!!15/01/2024, 16:27How are you managing social distancing and your clinical work? – Qiological Community

the article above have a big session on analysing the illness pattern in stages, which I thought would be helpful too.

KristinWisgirda: April 1, 2020, 10:27pm
It is so helpful to know the stages and approaches to understanding them.
This information is definitely more helpful than acupuncture approaches.
Thanks for your efforts.
