Kristin, or anyone game to post some heel pictures to get a better visual idea of Kidney excess vs not?
KristinWisgirda #2January 4, 2021, 12:14am
This is a great idea. I’ll work on gathering and posting photos and welcome others to do the same. Maybe we could
have a game of lining up heels in the order of levels of K excess.
Thenars should get the same treatment.
Toby knows that a weak spot in transmitting the tradition is lack of shared clinic time. We all need to see more
examples of physical findings and live patients displaying their excesses. A great use of technology will be to share
pics and maybe even videos here and in future classes.

I’m game. This can be a super helpful reference for everyone. Thanks!

It this a cracked or non-cracked heel?
ngmatthews: October 4, 2021, 5:15pm
That thumb does look a little shriveled
ngmatthews: October 4, 2021, 5:15pm
that looks cracked, but only a little in the back.

So, I turn 60 this week. The heels aren’t cracked but they aren’t plump, to me. They look more veiny in the photo
than with the naked eye, but definitely have a few miles on them. I had fraternal twins, 1st cycle trying. Menopause
at age 46. I suppose by 60 they should be withering. I would say I could use kidney occasionally because of my age
and because I use SI+ fairly frequently for chronic pain.
The Thenars are definitely flat and my hands are pretty withered. But, I am insulin resistant so I gain weight easily
and have to work really hard to keep it off the middle. And, I am well resourced. I would be inclined to give myself
ST+ for the body morphology despite the thenar flatness. Haven’t tried it much.
I am interested in the conversation because I often see a mixed presentation in the clinic where the heels and
thenars are saying one thing and there are several indications in the other column.

I hear you Amy. I think it is so important that we don’t get fixated too much on the particular cardinal signs and
still take in the whole. I do struggle with this as well especially with the heels – I have a cracked heels 49yo male
that responds so so well to SI+, but did KD+ last week as I think he does need a little of that as well.
Also people may take particularly good care of their heels so they are not as cracked. It is important to inquire just
like “do you moisturize your skin?”.
In addition as people age there are more visible blood vessels and what to do about those heels?
On myself I have tried to answer this question around SI/KD. ST/LU – What I find is that if it is the right treatment
at the time it can work great. If I didn’t need it nothing would happen. (I have yet to experience a negative reaction
where I have to do the paired channel, but I have not tried GB+ on myself yet). For you maybe see how KD+ feels
if you have not done so already – Or play around with giving a LU+, knowing you can do ST+ if there is a
sideways effect.
So I have no answers to provide to this conversation. Only commiseration for the clinic confusion – when it is not
clear I go through all the channel pairs in my head, sometimes step out of the room “I’ll be right back”, put my
hands on them and ask for Divine intervention for clarity on how to best serve this person in this moment.

mostly what I have been doing is considering the heels and thenars as secondary to the other signs especially body
morphology. That has worked well for me with patients. For myself, I like the idea of ST because who wouldn’t
want to be skinny and moist? I have tried kid and as you say, not much happened so I took it as being not relevant
to the moment.
