Just wanted to share a case.
Woman in her early 60’s with Bell’s Palsy on the left side of her face, her eye would not shut completely and
watered constantly, her smile was crooked and she couldn’t use a straw as the corner of her mouth would not close.
Her body type was damp inside and damp outside, she had chronic sweating from her hands and feet, constantly
clammy, edema in her lower legs and suffered from diarrhea often.
The first treatment I diagnosed her with Spleen excess and Suppl Lg intestine on the right side, she immediately
felt a firming up at the corner of her mouth and felt very relaxed. I continued this treatment the second visit with a
similar response. The third treatment I began to think about the lack of symmetry in her face and this chronic
leakage of sweat that had been going on for years, and the edema in her lower legs. The watery eye had not
changed much since we started with suppl. lg int. I decided to suppl the kidney on the right side thinking about
consolidating and lack of symmetry, within a couple minutes the sweating from her palms dried up! Her eye also
stopped watering. Her face is almost completely back to normal and I am continuing to treat her.

Thank you for sharing, Laura.
That is a good outcome. How long had she been dealing with the Bell’s Palsy? Was it a recent episode or chronic?
How spaced out were the treatments?

Yes, thought it was a simple but interesting case.
She had been suffering for about a month. I was treating her twice a week and am now at once a week.

Wow @lauramcgraw, this is so very very different from how most folks would consider treating Belly’s Palsy.
Please consider writing this up as a case study for The Lantern or the Journal of Chinese Medicine.
Great case! It really gets at what you are seeing with this particular patient and then working channels that appear
to need the most help.17/01/2024, 12:00Bell’s palsy not so obvious – Qiological Community

Good show Laura!
I also had a Bells patient lately. I have been using Tung primarily since 2002. Though with Bells I have always
used Tan with medium to great response. Its of course labor intensive and I wanted to use only Saam. 21 year old
female, very good looking, good bone structure on body, but couldnt tell of face as the Bells distorted it. Bells
affected her for less than 2 months. lots of other S&S but nothing else stood out. +SI 3x contra-lateral and she was
90+% better 1x per week, for 3 weeks. I was floored each time. i have seen a few folks resolve in a week, but they
were in after less than a month when the Bells affected them and I would treat 5 days in a row.
